Wolves make move to re-sign Leander Dendoncker – sources
Wolves have registered their interest in re-signing Leander Dendoncker before the transfer window closes, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League side are hoping to secure the midfielder on a loan deal for the rest of the season.
Wolves are in the market for a holding midfielder in the remaining days of the transfer window.
However, a stumbling block on this potential transfer is that Anderlecht are also keen on re-signing Dendoncker.
The 29-year-old joined Aston Villa from Wolves in 2022 but spent the second half of last season on loan at Napoli.
Dendoncker had fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park and only made eight Premier League appearances in the first half of the campaign.
Wolves want to bring Leander Dendoncker back to Molineux
The Belgium international struggled for game time after joining Napoli, only playing three times for the Italian outfit.
Dendoncker has yet to feature for Villa this season and hasn’t even made the match-day squad for either of the opening two Premier League fixtures.
Wolves are looking to bring him back to the club he spent four seasons, but he also has a long history with Anderlecht.
Dendoncker started his career with the Belgian side and has made more appearances for them than any other team.

The versatile midfielder made 159 appearances throughout his time at Wolves, scoring 12 goals and providing four assists.
However, his ability to play as a centre-back and as a box-to-box midfielder would give Gary O’Neil more options if he was to return to the club.
