Wolves medical today after £12m bid accepted

David Moller Wolfe is undergoing a medical at Wolves today after they agreed a £12.1m deal with AZ Alkmaar, sources have told Football Insider.

The Dutch Eredivisie club have given the green light for the 23-year-old to head to the Premier League outfit and put the finishing touches to the move.

Wolves have beaten multiple clubs, including other English sides, to Wolfe’s signature, joining after just two full seasons in the Eredivisie, where he flourished in defence.

Despite being known for his defensive attributes, the full-back notched three goals and seven assists in 47 appearances last season, including two goal contributions in the Europa League.

Wolves set to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri replacement

With Rayan Ait-Nouri joining Man City, and Nelson Semedo now being announced at Fenerbahce, Vitor Pereira has lost two very important players in Wolves’ defence ahead of next season.

The duo accounted for 17 goal contributions across all competitions last term, and with Matheus Cunha also sealing his big-money move to Man United, some supporters have become concerned.

Football Insider revealed in April that Pereira wanted to be heavily backed by Wolves’ board during the summer transfer window, and sealing Wolfe’s signature shows plenty of ambition at Molineux.

The Old Gold have already agreed deals for Jhon Arias, Fer Lopez, and Jorgen Strand Larsen on a permanent deal, now showing a statement of intent by using their influx of funds from exits.

Vitor Pereira’s future up in the air at Molineux

The board are currently doing everything to please their manager ahead of a difficult 2025/26 campaign, and supporters will be extremely keen for the 57-year-old to stick around after his impact.

However, Mick Brown told Football Insider in June that Pereira could be tempted by a Wolves exit, for a top club, with the chance to manage Benfica a “huge” opportunity for the manager.

Football Insider revealed in June that Pereira was set for showdown talks with Wolves over a new deal in the West Midlands, but there has been very little movement over his contract as of yet.

Several new transfers could help sweeten the pot for the passionate Portuguese figure, who remains in charge just 15 days before their Premier League opener against Man City on Saturday, 16 August.
