Wolves news: Agbonlahor slaughters big-name trio as finger pointed at Conor Coady

Conor Coady, Roman Saiss and Willy Bolly must take the blame for Wolves’ capitulation against Leeds United on Friday night (18 March), according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the trio defender “like they had never defended before in their lives”.

Wolves were 2-0 up at Molineux at half-time and looked comfortable before Raul Jimenez was sent off early on after the interval.

Leeds scored twice within three minutes 10 minutes later before a Luke Ayling goal in stoppage time secured his side the three points.

Coady told the Wolves website after the game that the red card changed the game but his side should have been able to see out the win.

“Both teams defended like they had never defended before in their lives,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Even with 10 men, you’d back Wolves to make it difficult to give up chances. They capitulated. You’d expect leaders like Coady, like Bolly, like Saiss to do better.

“Their defence has been so good this season, even with 10 men, you’d expect them to see it out and restrict Leeds’ chances.

“They didn’t change formation or change the way they were playing with 10 men. It was very strange and very poor from Wolves.”

The loss at Molineux leaves Wolves in eighth in the Premier League, four points behind Man United in sixth.

Bruno Lage’s are next in action when Aston Villa visit Molineux after the international break (2 April).
