Wolves news: Whelan issues ‘incredible’ Max Kilman claim after newspaper update
Noel Whelan has insisted “sensational” Wolves defender Max Kilman deserves an England call-up this month.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old has “quietly been one of the best defenders” in the Premier League this term.
As per the Mirror (26 February), Gareth Southgate is considering calling Kilman up to the England squad for friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast later this month.

The report details how Southgate was in attendance as Wolves fell to a 2-0 defeat against West Ham on Sunday (27 February).
According to talkSPORT (21 February), Chelsea are eyeing a move for the defender as they prepare for life without Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta.
When asked if Kilman is deserving of the plaudits, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Absolutely, he’s been sensational.
“The thing about Wolves is that they’ve been going well under the radar this season – their defensive record has been nothing short of incredible.
“Other teams have only started to sit up and take notice recently – but they’re not too far off those top spots.
“It just goes to show the job that Bruno Lage has done and the consistency they’ve shown.
“Kilman has been so solid and has quietly been one of the best defenders in the league – and quite rightly, he’s caught the eye of Gareth Southgate.
“When you look at the abundance of quality we’ve got in that position, not many would think about him – but I really do believe he deserves that opportunity this month.”

Kilman has played 90 minutes in every single Wolves game this season.
The Molineux club sit just seven points adrift of fourth-placed Man United with a game in hand.
