Wolves plot possible loan move for Euro giants fringe player – reliable journalist

By Danny Wright

Porto fringe player Willy Boly is a “definite target” of Wolves, according to a reliable journalist.

Express and Star reporter Tim Spiers claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon that the Black Country outfit were eyeing up a possible loan move for the 26-year-old, who struggled to break in the squad of European giants Porto last term.

Boly only made eight appearances for Porto in the 2016/17 season following his arrival from Braga.

He was signed by the now Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, but barely featured in his plans throughout what was a disappointing season for the Portuguese titans.

The ex-Braga man was highly rated in his youth days with Auxerre, and managed to earn a call-up to the France Under-21 international squad, but failed to earn a cap.

The pursuit of Boly comes after the Express and Star reported that Nuno is keen on signing Ruben Neves from Porto after agreeing a £15million fee to buy the 20-year-old midfielder.

It is understood that an announcement is expected to be made by Wolves in the coming days.

Football Insider Verdict

It’s fairly strange that Nuno would want to bring Boly to play for him again next season as he clearly didn’t show him he had what it takes in his debut year at Porto. However playing at Molineux in the Championship doesn’t compare to turning out in the famous blue and white stripes of Porto in the Champions League. The 26-year-old looked very promising when he rose through the ranks of Auxerre’s well-known academy. He became a star in the Braga side and could be a really good addition for Wolves provided there are no hard feelings between manager and player. Wolves could be within a shot of promotion next season if they keep this up.
