Wolves plot urgent Gary O’Neil talks after Liverpool update – sources
Wolves are planning urgent contract talks with manager Gary O’Neil, sources have told Football Insider.
The Midlands club are scrambling to hand the 40-year-old a new deal at Molineux after his stellar first season in the job.
O’Neil has recently been linked with vacancies at Liverpool and Man United following his great work with Wolves this season.
However, updating worried fans on the speculation, he insisted his focus is “100 per cent” on Wolves and claimed he has not spoken to any other side.
Wolves are now planning to extend his contract, which is currently set to end in June 2026.
Wolves want to hand O’Neil new contract after Liverpool and Man United links
O’Neil only arrived at Molineux on the eve of the 2023-24 campaign after the shock departure of Julen Lopetegui due to the club’s summer fire sale.
He has won 17 of 42 total games with the Midlands club and has them sitting 11th in the Premier League with three games remaining this term.
That is despite selling multiple key men last summer (2023) in a bid to avoid falling foul of Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

O’Neil was relieved of his duties at Bournemouth – his first job in senior management – last year despite leading them to a 15th-place finish in the 2022-23 campaign.
The former West Ham and Portsmouth midfielder was the Under-23 assistant manager at Liverpool between 2020 and 2021.
