Wolves set to seal next January transfer as Thursday medical booked after deal agreed

Wolves are on the verge of completing their third piece of business in the January transfer window.

Ki-Jana Hoever recently left to join Sheffield United on loan, after young defender Alfie Pond moved to Crewe Alexandra in the early stages of the window.

Rob Edwards’ side are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and they will know that significant reinforcements are needed if they are to have any hope of salvaging their season.

Former Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that he is unsure how stable Edwards’ position is at Wolves in the early stages of the window.

Wyness also suggested that many of their winter deals may be completed with the prospect of Championship football in mind next term, and with that in mind, the Black Country outfit are about to seal their first transfer of the month.

Marshall Munetsi set for medical with Euro club

Football Insider revealed last weekend that Wolves are planning to build their team around Mateus Mane in order to try and safeguard themselves from interest in the starlet.

The Molineux outfit are currently fielding interest in several of their key players, with Jorgen Strand Larsen also heavily linked with a move elsewhere in the Premier League.

Marshall Munetsi is another man whose future has been uncertain in recent weeks, but he is now on the verge of sealing a move to Paris FC.

The midfielder is due to land in the French capital for his medical on Thursday, according to Le Parisien, with the Ligue 1 side hopeful of having him signed and registered in time to feature against Nantes on Sunday.

Wolves reached an agreement with the newly-promoted outfit on Wednesday, and the 29-year-old is now set to leave on a loan deal until the end of the season.

There is understood to be no option or obligation as part of the agreement, and if there are no late setbacks, then a deal should be completed imminently.

Wolves to cash in on Munetsi in the summer

Football Insider recently revealed that Wolves will reluctantly accept an offer for Strand Larsen this month, provided that their £40million valuation is met in full, and they must be mindful of the potential for Championship football with every piece of business that they complete.

The likes of Strand Larsen and Joao Gomes will certainly not be keen to play second-tier football, and that could easily result in issues in the dressing room if they remain part of the group for next term.

Munetsi also falls into that category, as a player who has spent the majority of his career playing in the French top flight.

The Zimbabwe international is under contract at Molineux until the summer of 2028, but with just two years remaining on that deal in the summer and relegation on the horizon, it would be the perfect time to cash in on him at the end of the campaign.

There may be no purchase option as part of the initial agreement with Paris FC, but if the loan spell progresses well for both them and the player, then Wolves surely wouldn’t stand in the way of a permanent switch in the summer.
