Wolves told to appoint Peter Bosz after journalist’s interview reveal – pundit

Noel Whelan has backed Wolves to bring in an “attacking” manager who can put an end to their “boring” tag amid links to former Ajax boss Peter Bosz.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted there is “no point” having players like Daniel Podence, Goncalo Guedes, Ruben Neves, and Matheus Nunes if they are going to be “shackled”.

According to The Telegraph‘s John Percy (17 October), Wolves have interviewed Bosz, 58, for their managerial vacancy – with decision-makers left impressed by the talks.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (18 October) that Queens’ Park Rangers boss Michael Beale is one of the contenders to fill the Molineux hot seat.

Bosz has managed a number of top European sides, including Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and Olympique Lyon – employing an attacking 4-3-2-1 formation.

He famously guided a youthful Ajax to the Europa League final in 2017 – where they were beaten by Jose Mourinho’s Man United.

Wolves have picked up nine points from 11 games this term and have scored the fewest goals in the Premier League.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think they’ve got to go with an attacking manager.

“There’s no point having all these flair players and top midfield players at the club without using them to their strengths.

“They’ve been a very boring side to watch for a number of years now, but that hasn’t stopped them going out and buying these flair players.

“They’re shackling them.

“They need someone to come in and find a nice balance. They’ve got a fantastic defence to build on, but the goalscoring record has been woeful.

“I think bringing someone like Bosz in would be the right thing to do. That talent needs to express themselves, and show the fans what they’re all about.”
