‘Wolves will never say this…’ – Expert suggests the real Rob Edwards plan after ‘shock’
Rob Edwards is edging closer to being announced as the next Wolves manager following their decision to part ways with Vitor Pereira on 2 November.
Wolves lost 3-0 to Fulham before the manager’s dismissal, and followed that result with a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea under the guidance of interim boss James Collins.
However, after Edwards was stood down from Middlesbrough’s game against Birmingham, their next permanent appointment is now expected within days.
The current Middlesbrough boss is set to take charge at Molineux during the international break, with the hopes of turning round what has been a nightmare season so far.
With Wolves now stranded at the bottom of the Premier League, eight points from safety and without a win from 11 games, it will be a tough ask to change their fortunes.

Wolves make Rob Edwards plan after arrival from Middlesbrough
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 9 November that Wolves believe Edwards can galvanise the squad and get the fans on side after a disastrous season so far.
There is also a view towards next season, acknowledging that they are the overwhelming favourites to go down as things stand, with Edwards tipped to lead them back up.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Wolves are being forced to plan ahead as a result of their own mismanagement.
“Wolves are already preparing to go down,” he told Football Insider.
“Of course they’ll be hopeful of staying up, but it’s going to take a massive turnaround for that to happen, and I’m not sure any manager could do it with this squad.
“The squad looks weak and the players they’ve brought in have not been up to scratch.
“At the start of the season, aside from the three promoted sides, Wolves were everybody’s favourites for relegation, and that’s how it’s played out so far.
“Watching them against Chelsea, they looked like a pub team, they were shcoking. It’ll take a lot to keep them up.
“Rob Edwards has got a strong affinity for the club because he played for them. I was surprised he’s swapped Boro for Wolves in their current position, but okay.
“I just get the feeling that he’s coming in with the idea that he can get them promoted again next season because he’s got that experience.
“They’d never say that explicitly of course, but that might be on their mind at the moment.”
Wolves facing exodus of key players after dismal start
Despite lingering hopes that parting ways with Pereira could see Wolves turn around their dismal form, speculation has started about a number of star players.
Brown told Football Insider on 30 October that Wolves are concerned star players could quit, with the likes of Joao Gomes attracting high-profile interest.
Football Insider exclusively revealed in January that Liverpool and Man United were keeping tabs on Gomes, before he signed a new deal at Wolves.

Gomes signed a new contract at Wolves in April to extend his stay until 2030 and deter growing interest after his impressive displays last season.
However, as a result of the ongoing turmoil at Molineux, a number of top clubs in the Premier League and abroad have sent scouts to keep tabs on Gomes’ performances.
