Boubacar Traore makes Wolves transfer decision – journalist

Boubacar Traore has given the green light to join Anderlecht in what could be a late summer swoop for the Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder.

Reports emerged on Friday that the Belgian club is preparing another bid for the Mali international.

Talks are advancing for the 25-year-old, and an offer worth around £3.4million plus add-ons could be enough to get the deal done.

This is despite the midfielder playing in Wolves’ last two fixtures, with Cesar Peixoto starting Traore in the 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

The Molineux faithful have also made it clear in recent days that they do not want him to depart this summer.

However, as the 1 September deadline edges closer, rumours surrounding his potential exit refuse to disappear.

Traore is no doubt a wanted man this summer.

It had previously been reported that Portsmouth had made an enquiry for the Wolves midfielder, with Racing Santander also keen.

However, Anderlecht now appear to be the front runners and could secure themselves a good deal over the coming days if Sacha Tavolieri’s report is to be believed.

Traore has never cemented himself as a starter at Wolves since joining the club, and was a squad player until he was shipped out on loan to Metz last season.

It would now appear that he has returned to the first-team fold under Peixoto, but could now still depart regardless.

What other business could Wolves complete this summer?

Wolves goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has also been heavily linked with an exit in recent days.

Celtic are believed to be eyeing a potential move for the 33-year-old in the dying days of the transfer window.

This comes after Wolves announced the arrivals of both John Ruddy and Joao Virginia on Thursday, meaning they now have four goalkeepers on their books.

With Jose Sa expected to be the starter for the rest of the campaign, Johnstone’s departure would make sense as the club looks to free itself of its big earners.

However, it remains to be seen if a deal can be agreed over the coming days for the goalkeeper or Traore.
