Wolves 'might not stand in way' of Raul Jimenez and Kieran Trippier exits after Rob Edwards sack

Raul Jimenez and Kieran Trippier should be able to walk away from their contracts just days after signing for Wolves on free transfers.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Old Gold are unlikely to stand in the duo's way after Rob Edwards' brutal sacking.

The 43-year-old is understood to have discovered his fate on social media as rumours emerged of the club pushing to hire Cesar Peixoto of Gil Vicente.

Multiple players are now reportedly furious with the decision to part ways with the manager, despite the former Middlesbrough boss being unable to save the Old Gold from Premier League relegation.

Trippier is said to be at the very front of that fury, and having just signed for the club as a free agent, others are being alerted to his current situation at Molineux Stadium.

Jimenez's situation is a little trickier, given that he's currently away on international duty with Mexico at the 2026 World Cup, but the centre-forward is also being tipped to walk away from his contract.

Wolves stars to riot over Rob Edwards sack

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson explained that it should be simple for the two new arrivals to find new clubs amidst all the frustration and anger in the Black Country.

"It depends how important the manager was to them signing up. I can't imagine that Wolves are standing in the way of a player that's just signed," he said.

"The money they're being paid now, I think that would have to be repaid by those individuals.

"If a player says, 'If you sack the manager, then I don't want to come', I think they'd be able to do a deal with Wolves to tear up their contracts.

"It's a bit of an odd decision. I don't really understand it. Obviously, we haven't got any other background, but it does seem a bit strange.

"But I don't think it's going to be a big issue of unwinding if that's what's required."

Who is Cesar Peixoto?

Peixoto has certainly had an impressive career over in Portugal, managing multiple teams outside the usual Sporting CP, Porto and Benfica.

His lack of experience in major leagues has certainly raised some eyebrows at Molineux, especially given the knowledge that Edwards already has in the Championship.

Many view the move as a huge gamble, with the Old Gold one of the favourites to win promotion next season, at least until they parted ways with their manager is such cruel circumstances.

Just seven months after arriving, Edwards was basically sacked over the phone, having only been in meetings days before, speaking about the club's transfer tactics for this summer.
