‘Wow’, ‘Great wee player’ – Rangers fans react to reported swoop for international attacker

Rangers are interested in bringing Welsh international striker Ben Woodburn to Ibrox, according to a report, and Gers fans are hopeful the Ibrox giants can strike a deal to bring the teenager to Glasgow this summer.

The 18-year-old Liverpool striker is part of Jurgen Klopp’s 24-man squad for Saturday’s Champions League final with Real Madrid and the Express claim Steven Gerrard wants to bring him to Ibrox as part of his Rangers revolution.

Gers fans are delighted at the prospect of signing the young striker as Gerrard shapes his squad ahead of his first season in charge at Ibrox.

Here are some of their comments on Twitter:

Gerrard made Woodburn captain of Liverpool’s Under-18s last season as they reached the quarter-final of the UEFA Youth League.

Woodburn is Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer and scored his first international goal in his debut for Wales when he scored a 25-yarder in a 1-0 win over Austria.

The Light Blues have already secured Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy ahead of the new season and are expected to see a massive turnover of players this season as Gerrard takes his first steps in management.

Gerrard officially takes charge at Ibrox on June 1st and will lead his side into action in a competitive game for the first time on July 12th when their Europa League campaign.
