Yoane Wissa reacts to Keane Lewis-Potter amid Brentford exit links

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa could be the next star to leave the Gtech Community Stadium in another blow to rookie manager Keith Andrews.

Andrews is stepping into his first ever managerial role at the Premier League club after previously working as a set-piece coach under former boss Thomas Frank.

The Bees have already lost last season’s top goal scorer Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.

Wissa looks set to follow Mbeumo out of West London as the 28-year-old states he may not play for the club again after Brentford rejected an offer from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

Wissa has also been the subject of interest from Spurs and a potential reunion with Frank in North London.

The DR Congo international has been at Brentford for four years since his move from Lorient in 2021.

Amid the transfer speculation, Wissa has reacted to team mate Keane Lewis-Potter who took to Instagram to share pictures from Brentford’s pre-season friendly with Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente.

The friendly finished in a 1-1 draw for the Bees who will next face Championship club QPR in their next pre-season test.

Andrews faces forward dilemma

Football Insider Verdict

With the Premier League season beginning in just three weeks time, it looks likely Wissa will not be a Brentford player much longer.

Wissa and Mbeumo scored a combined 39 Premier League goals last season, which was over half of the goal’s Brentford scored in the campaign.

Striker Igor Thiago will need to hit the ground running with the Brazilian missing the majority of last season with a knee injury.

Andrews though will have the funds to try and replace the duo in the transfer market as Brentford will be left short of natural finishers.

Other players like Kevin Schade and Mikkel Damsgaard will need to step with more productivity in-front of goal.

It has been a tough start for Andrews in the role and Bees face a difficult opening day trip to Nottingham Forest before a home game against Aston Villa.

Defensively, Brentford look solid with the addition of Liverpool shot stopper Caoimhin Kelleher, but if the Bees cannot score goals then a relegation battle may await.
