Youri Tielemans may now sign for Newcastle United as ‘five-year contract’ touted – Agbonlahor

Youri Tielemans may be keen on a move to Newcastle United because of their ambition and the potential wages on offer, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed those factors will attract a lot of players.

CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs told GiveMeSport earlier this week (13 July) that Newcastle had made enquiries to Leicester City about the 25-year-old.

He only has a year left to run on his contract at the King Power Stadium and has been linked to Arsenal this summer.

Asked whether the Belgium international would be interested in a move to St. James’ Park, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He will have seen the likes of Trippier go there and other players.

“He’ll maybe look at the project and see if you sign a five-year contract after a couple of years you’ll be looking to break into Europe or the top-four after three years. That might be something he looks into.

“Obviously he’ll get more money than Arsenal could pay him as well. Money is not an issue for Newcastle, you’re going to get paid very well.

“With all those factors, you can see a lot of players going to Newcastle, to be honest.”

Tielemans has scored 24 times and provided a further 24 assists in 158 games across all competitions for Leicester since his move from Monaco in the summer of 2019.

He scored the winning goal as the Foxes beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final in the 2020-21 season.
