Youri Tielemans reacts to Morgan Rogers after Aston Villa forced sale news

Youri Tielemans was among the players to react following Aston Villa’s announcement involving Morgan Rogers, amid growing uncertainty around the forward’s future.

Aston Villa are preparing for a decisive clash against Tottenham on 16 May, a fixture that could determine their place in next season’s Champions League.

Rogers has enjoyed a standout campaign under Unai Emery, with his contributions proving vital. The attacker has recorded 28 goals and assists this season, firmly establishing himself as a key figure in Villa’s push for European football.

However, his impressive form has attracted attention. Former Villa CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Aston Villa may be forced to sell Rogers this summer in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Football Insider also revealed that Manchester City are monitoring Rogers closely as they could look to bring their academy graduate back to the Etihad if Villa’s financial position opens the door for a potential deal.

Morgan Rogers nominated for Premier League Young Player of the Year

Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his future, Rogers’ performances this season are set to be rewarded, with the forward named among the nominees for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year award.

The 22-year-old reposted Villa’s announcement on his Instagram story, with the post receiving likes from teammates Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne.

Rogers has been in exceptional form in what is his first full season with the club since arriving in January last year. He has scored eight goals and provided nine assists in the league — a standout contribution as Villa chase a top-five finish.

Football Insider revealed on 6 May that Emery is keen to keep Rogers at the club, but mounting financial pressure may force Villa into making a tough decision over the sale of one of their top-performing players.

Another potential departure could be Marcus Rashford, whose loan spell is nearing its end.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rashford is pushing for a move to Barcelona and has set his sights on leaving Old Trafford permanently.

Brown also revealed that Villa are exploring potential replacements for Rashford, with a permanent move to Villa Park not yet making progress.

Although the United loanee has made a strong impression during his time with the club, his wages could become a stumbling block for Villa, who are already navigating financial challenges ahead of the summer transfer window.
