Yves Bissouma apologises to ‘Tottenham teammates’ in ‘burning’ message
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has taken to social media to apologise to his teammates after he gave away a penalty in their 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday (December 8).
The 28-year-old conceded the first of Chelsea’s two penalties in their comeback win, taking Moises Caicedo out after his storming run into the box.
Cole Palmer stepped up, sending Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster the wrong way to equalise for the visitors just after the hour-mark.
Ange Postecoglu’s side took a two-goal lead after just 11 minutes thanks to strikes from former Chelsea forward Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski.
Jadon Sancho got one back soon after to make it 2-1, scoring in his second consecutive game across all competitions.
Acting captain Enzo Fernandez gave the visitors the lead with a half-volley after some intricate play from Palmer before the England international scored his second spot-kick with a cheeky Panenka.
Heung-Min Son netted a late consolation in added time, but it proved too little, too late, as Spurs slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table.

The Mali international took to Instagram soon after the game to apologise to the home fans, saying: “I’m so sad for that mistake, it’s burning me because we lost the game today from this mistake. I feel sorry for my teammates, staff, and fans. I take all responsibility for that one, I’ll learn from this one, it’s time to show the real me. Thanks for all the support.

Tottenham are set to travel to Scotland for their Europa League clash against Postecoglu’s former rivals, Rangers, on Thursday (December 12).
Attention will then return to the Premier League as Spurs travel to bottom-placed Southampton on Sunday (December 15).
