23-year-old midfielder: This is preventing reported £100,000-a-week Liverpool deal

Emre Can has revealed that the stalemate between him and Liverpool over a new deal is not about the size of his potential contract.
The Liverpool Echo claim that the midfielder is looking to more than double his current contract to a huge £100,000-a-week deal, before talks broke down over Christmas.
However, Can was quoted by talkSPORT as saying that his decision over a new deal at Anfield does not depend on the amount he would be earning, but instead about his future.
“I read in newspapers it was about money, but it isn’t about money,” he said.
“We’ve had a few good meetings and everything is fine. I just wanted to say it is never about the money. It is about the future, what happens.
“We will speak in the next few weeks and months and see what happens. I am happy here.”
The 23-year-old’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2018 with Jurgen Klopp’s side keen to tie down the future of their versatile Germany international.
Former Bayer Leverkusen star Can has struggled to provide a consistent level of performance this season for the Reds, but did score his fourth goal of the season against Burnley on Sunday.
With the score deadlocked at 1-1, Liverpool’s number 23 opted to try a speculative effort from 25 yards that proved to be inch perfect, finding the bottom corner of Tom Heaton’s goal.
The win saw Liverpool finally end their hoodoo against smaller Premier League clubs, which has seen them drop points to Sunderland, Swansea and Hull during 2017.
Since his move to Anfield from the Bundesliga, Can has made 119 league and cup appearances for the Reds, appearing in a number of different positions.
In other Liverpool news, this senior star has been ordered to play for the Merseyside giants’ reserve side.
