25-year-old axed in Monk 4-2-3-1: Leeds best possible XI to face Blackburn

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Souleymane Doukara needs to be axed by Garry Monk ahead of Leeds’ fixture against Blackburn at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening.

The Yorkshire giants are preparing to face a side battling near the bottom of the second tier in 23rd position.

However, it will not be an easy fixture for Leeds with Rovers managing three victories, a draw and one defeat in their last five matches in all competitions.

Additionally, Monk’s team suffered a shock 1-0 defeat against Sutton and Doukara, 25, was one of the worst performers against the Vanarama National League side.

The attacker must also be joined by Marco Silvestri, Lewie Coyle, Paul McKay, Liam Cooper, Tyler Denton, Matt Grimes, Billy Whitehouse, Kalvin Phillips and Marcus Antonsson in dropping out of the eleven.

This should then result in Rob Green, Luke Ayling, Kyle Bartley, Pontus Jansson, Gaetano Berardi, Liam Bridcutt, Eunan O’Kane, Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez and Chris Wood make their way back into the team with Stuart Dallas the only one to keep his place.

Leeds made two new wing signings on Tuesday evening in the forms of Alfonso Berardi and Modou Barrow, but neither were registered in time for the midweek clash.

It is expected that if Charlie Taylor is also fit enough to be considered that he will have to start on the bench with his last appearance coming all the way back in the middle of December.

He will be missing from a strong back four containing Ayling, Bartley and Jansson, who will all be looking to protect Green in goal.

O’Kane and Bridcutt in midfield will also be part of the defensive unit, while also providing some attacking freedom to Roofe, Hernandez and Dallas in the midfield.

The trio can be devastating on their day and they will be looking to create chances for the prolific Wood who will be looking to add to his 20 goals total this campaign.
