Leeds should join three of their Championship rivals in the race to sign Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy this summer.

Evening Chronicle reporter Lee Ryder revealed on his personal Twitter account that Sunderland, Birmingham and Nottingham Forest are all interested in the 34-year-old.

It is said that Forest are leading the chase to sign the former Ipswich Town target man after submitting a £2million bid, which is believed to be larger than their rivals offers.

Forest have offered the Ireland international a two-year deal and are closing in on a move to sign the Championship hitman.

Leeds have already completed nine new signings this summer under manager Thomas Christiansen, including the likes of Samuel Saiz, Matuesz Klich and Felix Wiedwalld.

Football Insider believes Murphy would be the perfect signing at Thorp Arch as Leeds look to close in on a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

Here are three reasons why, including a 26-year-old that should be allowed to leave Leeds who could make room for Murphy.
