Sources: West Ham could now lose virtual ever-present as well as Declan Rice
There are major doubts over the future of West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek as the summer window approaches, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Irons could lose Soucek, 28, in the off-season – as well as captain Declan Rice.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (2 May) that West Ham are planning for life after Rice as Arsenal close in on a mega-money deal for the 24-year-old.
It is believed that manager David Moyes was keen to add to his midfield options in the January window – but a deal failed to materialise.
And with Soucek and Rice potentially both leaving the London Stadium in the coming months, Moyes and his recruitment team have now turned their attention to multiple additions.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (3 May) that West Ham have extensively scouted Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow this season ahead of a potential summer deal.
It is believed that a bid of £30million including add-ons would be enough to seal Sow’s signature as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
The Switzerland international is a more defensive-minded player, and West Ham remain keen to add a creative option to their midfield arsenal.
Soucek has featured in each of West Ham’s fixtures this season but will enter the final year of his contract next month.
He has been a key man for Moyes since arriving at the London Stadium in 2020 but could depart the club this summer.
West Ham could again have Europa League football to help lure high-profile summer targets to the London Stadium if they win the Europa Conference League this term.
The Irons have allayed fears of relegation to the Championship in recent weeks with a turnaround in results.
