A day after savaging Xia, this is what Collymore says about new signing

Stan Collymore has stated that Neil Taylor is a “good signing” for Aston Villa after he made a switch from Swansea on deadline day.

The club confirmed on their official website on Monday evening that the 27-year-old left-back has swapped the Premier League for the Championship.

Broadcaster Collymore had previously slammed Villa owner Tony Xia for the amount of money Villa had been spending over the last seven months on transfers.

Outspoken Collymore expressed his “concern” at Villa as he delivered a savage attack on the club’s senior man.

After Taylor agreed to a move to Villa Park, the club’s former player Collymore had this to say about him on his personal Twitter account.

“Good signing Neil Taylor,” said Collymore. “Steady, a good defender first and foremost, positionally sound. Big thumbs up from me.”

Taylor is an experienced campaigner at the top level and has also featured for Wales on the international stage.

He signed from Swansea, as Jordan Ayew moved in the other direction, with Swansea paying an undisclosed fee on top.

Taylor was part of Chris Coleman’s side that surprised the footballing world at last summer’s European Championships as they reached the semi-final stages.

Now, the highly-rated defender will be looking to help a Steve Bruce side that is stumbling in the Championship as they aim for promotion.

Villa are currently ten points adrift of the top six after they were beaten 3-0 at Brentford on Tuesday night.

Taylor’s first game could come on Saturday evening when Villa take on their Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
