‘A fine prospect’ – Respected journalist lauds performance of on-loan Celtic youngster
Jim Spence, a freelance broadcaster best known for his work with BBC Scotland, has praised Celtic’s Anthony Ralston for his performance for Dundee United against Dunfermline on Saturday.
Ralston, who joined the Tannadice side on an emergency loan deal earlier this month, made only his second appearance for his new club in the match which ended 1-1.
Spence took to his personal Twitter page after the game to laud the 19-year-old’s performance.
“Thought young Ralston on loan from Celtic looked a fine prospect today for Dundee United” he said.
Ralston made three league starts for the Hoops earlier this season and also started the Champions League group stage encounter with PSG before he suffered a long-term injury.
He is set to return to Celtic Park following his spell with Dundee United at the end of the season.
Football Insider verdict
Brendan Rodgers will be very interested to see how Ralston progresses with the Championship side. With Mikael Lustig playing in the World Cup in the summer and not getting much of a summer break, there is a chance that the youngster could be the Hoops left-back when the Champions League qualifiers begin in July. Ralston won’t have any qualms about playing in those games as he has played in big matches before, such as the Champions League group stage clash with PSG. If he can handle playing against Neymar he can handle playing in the games which will define the Hoops’ season.
