Abdallah Sima to Rangers: Big update on permanent Ibrox news for Brighton star – Sources
Rangers are unlikely to be able to finance a permanent move for Abdallah Sima in the summer unless they qualify for the Champions League, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the forward could have now played his last game for the Gers following his devastating injury sustained at the African Cup of Nations.
It is believed that Brighton, Sima’s parent club, will demand a fee of at least £15million in the summer, which could be well out of Rangers’ capabilities unless they reach the group stages of the Champions League.
The 22-year-old picked up a thigh injury while training with Senegal at AFCON, with Philippe Clement confirming he will be absent for the “long term”.
The major blow for the Ibrox giants could force him out of action for the remainder of the season.
He is Rangers’ top goalscorer in all competitions this season having bagged 15 goals across 35 appearances and has been a key figure in the club’s resurgence since Clement’s arrival.
As revealed by Football Insider (31 December), Brighton would be willing to sell Sima as he does not fit into their plans going forward as they have plenty of top-level attacking options at their disposal.

Rangers are second in the Scottish top flight following their 1-0 away victory against St Mirren on Saturday (27 January).
They are next in action against Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon (3 February).
