Academy product eyes Leeds comeback after successful operation

Bailey Peacock-Farrell is eyeing a return to the Leeds side after revealing an operation on his hand had been successful.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper has been sidelined since October after breaking a bone in his hand, but has taken a step closer to a full recovery after his cast was removed.

Peacock-Farrell posted on his personal Instagram account, stating that the operation had worked following a bone graft and it was “time to get back fit” and in action for the Yorkshire giants.

A former Middlesbrough youth academy member, Peacock-Farrell moved to the Championship big hitters in 2013.

Leeds’ number 30 has made a solitary appearance for the Elland Road side, replacing suspended Marco Silvestri against QPR in April 2016 under former boss Steve Evans.

The young stopper was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet, as Giuseppe Bellusci gave a penalty away in the dying moments to earn their London based opponents a 1-1 draw.

With Ross Turnbull, Rob Green and Silvestri all still members of Garry Monk’s large squad, Peacock-Farrell faces a tough fight on his hands to work his way back into Leeds’ first team.

He is likely to rival Champions League winner Turnbull for a place in Jason Blunt’s development side, as he looks to catch the attention of Monk in the near future.

In other Leeds team news, this is the best possible side that could face Aston Villa in Saturday’s tea-time Championship encounter.
