Agbonlahor can’t believe Everton could sign Adama Traore for £20m

Adama Traore’s goal and assist record is “pathetic” and Everton should stay well clear of him, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Traore’s ex-Aston Villa teammate claimed his end product is not good enough and that has been proven over and over again.

Football Insider first reported on 20 April that Everton had earmarked the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for Richarlison.

A Blues source updated earlier this week (6 June) to reveal they have registered their interest in signing the forward and are monitoring the situation.

Wolves have placed a £20million price tag on the Spaniard who spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Barcelona.

Asked whether Traore would make a good replacement for Richarlison, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “No, not at all.

“I was at Aston Villa with Adama Traore and he was the quickest player I’ve seen and that’s coming from me who was a quick player.

“He just couldn’t sort his end product out. He would get to the by-line and put in the wrong cross and it would hit the first man. He’d be through three-on-two and play the wrong pass or take too many touches.

“There’s a reason why Barcelona don’t want him. He went back there and they don’t want to make that permanent.

“I’m sure Everton fans would rather someone else than Traore, to be honest.

“He’s had a lot of chances at a lot of different clubs and if you look at his goal record and assist record, it’s pathetic.

“If you look at his stats over games and not a single season they don’t add up.”

In other news, West Ham have made a move to sign an Everton star with 31 Premier League starts last season.
