Agbonlahor can’t believe Mauricio Pochettino could reunite with Paris Saint-Germain superstar at Chelsea
Gabby Agbonlahor has urged Chelsea to steer clear of a deal for reported target Neymar despite former Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino arriving at the club.
The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 31-year-old would be coming to England “for another payday”.
According to the Daily Mirror (23 April), Paris Saint-Germain are considering selling Neymar this summer – with Chelsea and another Premier League side considering a deal for the Brazil international.
This news comes after sources told this site (25 April) that former PSG boss Pochettino has agreed to take the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
Neymar, who has two years left to run on his mega-money contract, played 47 times under the Argentine at Parc des Princes – notching 21 goals and 16 assists.
Chelsea have splashed out a reported £540million in the 2022-23 campaign and will need to trim the squad and balance the books this summer.
Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I wouldn’t go and get Neymar, not at all.
“You wouldn’t be able to get him out of Harrods if he came to England. He’d just be coming for another payday.
“He doesn’t look interested in club football. If you offered him the chance to just play for Brazil, he’d bite your hand off.

“Chelsea don’t need another ego. Pochettino is coming in, he probably struggled to control him at PSG.
“I don’t see it happening. The money involved would just be silly.“I think he goes from PSG to Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.”
