Agbonlahor: I ‘have to hold my hands up’ after what I’ve just seen from Leeds

Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he was “worried” about Leeds United but has to”hold his hands up” and praise them.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the 3-2 win over West Ham on Saturday (15 January) could be a “turning point” in their season.

A Jack Harrison hat-trick ensured Leeds put back-to-back Premier League wins together for the first time this season.

They were forced to name a bench with Rodrigo the only senior option as Lewis Bate and Leo Hjelde made their Premier League debuts as substitutes.

As quoted by Leeds Live after the game, Bielsa revealed they did not fulfil the requirements to postpone the fixture.

“Leeds were very impressive at the weekend,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“The way they dismantled West Ham with a very inexperienced team you have to hold your hands up and say ‘You know what, great performance’.

“They are the only team that hasn’t complained and called off games. They could have had the game against West Ham called off easily but they didn’t. They played young players and had a bench full of kids.

“I think it’s definitely a turning point for Leeds. Once they get some players back as well they will be fine.

“I was quite worried about them but after that performance, they’ll be fine.”

Leeds United

Bielsa’s side are now nine points clear of the relegation zone after their win in east London.

They host strugglers Newcastle United on Saturday (22 January).
