Agbonlahor issues ‘big’ Boubacar Kamara claim as Aston Villa footage emerges
Boubacar Kamara can make a “big difference” for Aston Villa and fire them up the Premier League table in 2022-23, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Aston Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer insisted Kamara was a major upgrade on Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba.
The 22-year-old made his Aston Villa debut in a 1-0 win over Leeds United in a pre-season friendly earlier this week (17 July).
He followed up his impressive debut with 45 minutes in the 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar on Wednesday (20 July).
As quoted by Birmingham Live on Friday (22 July), Steven Gerrard revealed Kamara had turned down offers from Champions League clubs to move to Villa Park.
Gerrard claimed the midfielder is the sort of player who can help the club shake up the Premier League’s top-six.
“I really like the look of Kamara,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Douglas Luiz and Marvelous Nakamba have done a good job for Villa but we have to level up and get a better standard. Kamara is that better standard.
“He wants the ball in every position and can spray passes across the field. Even under pressure he’s looking to play passes into attacking areas.
“For me, it’s a big upgrade and that’s the sort of position where he can make a big difference and get Aston Villa up the table.”

Kamara moved to Aston Villa on a free transfer this summer as his contract at Marseille had expired.
The three-time France international has signed a five-year contract with the Midlands giants.
In other news, Aston Villa are racing to sign a PSV star and £20million will seal the deal.
