Agbonlahor issues ‘big’ Harry Kane claim after Tottenham source’s reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Harry Kane to bounce back from his disappointment with England when he returns to action for Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Kane’s penalty miss will not be a “big problem” for his club.

The 29-year-old scored a penalty and missed one in England’s 2-1 loss to France in the World Cup quarter-finals last week (10 December).

Sources told Football Insider earlier this week (12 December) that Antonio Conte and his staff are in doubt the striker will bounce back from the disappointment.

It is understood that he has been given a week off and Tottenham have begun the process of throwing a protective veil of support around Kane and have reached out with messages of support.

“I don’t see a problem with him taking two different penalties,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

Harry Kane can put penalties in two different corners. I just think, with the way Harry Kane takes his penalties, if he took his second one like his first one, the keeper can’t save them, they are already in before the keeper divers.

“I think he just complicated it in his mind. If he took the second penalty like he always takes them, he scores and it doesn’t matter where the keeper dives because he’s that good.

“All the players have been given a week off so he’s no different.

“I think he’ll be fine, it happens and it’s football. He’ll get over it and get back to scoring goals for Spurs. I don’t think it will be a big problem.

“He did his best and missed a penalty, it happens. He won’t be the last one who misses a chance for England.”

In other news, a club is close to signing a Tottenham sensation and a 1 January move is expected.
