Agbonlahor: Jadon Sancho could be heading for Championship club as Man United news confirmed
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Jadon Sancho could end up in the Championship after he was not included in the Man United squad for their mid-season tour.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Sancho must use the World Cup break as a “reality check” as he suggested Sancho’s career could go the same way as Dele Alli’s.
The 22-year-old was not included in the England squad and was spotted working with trusted coaches of Erik ten Hag out in the Netherlands.
Man United confirmed on Sunday (4 December) that he was not part of their mid-season training camp in Spain and was instead continuing an individual programme.
“He just probably needs a reality check of what’s important to him,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“He’s 22, so it’s ‘Do I want to end up in the Championship at 25 or 26? Or, do I want to be playing in the Premier League and for England when I’m 25 or 26?’
“You look at Dele Alli. He’s not ripping it up in Turkey and his next move could be in the Championship.
“That can happen in football if you’re not bang at it, even at a young age.
“That’s what Jadon Sancho has probably had to say to himself, sometimes nobody else can help you expect from yourself.
“Maybe that’s why he hasn’t gone with them and wanted to stay and do his own thing, I’ve got no problem with that.
“It must be difficult for him to watch England but it’s his own doing. If you don’t perform, you don’t get picked.

“When he had the chance at Man United, he wasn’t taking players on, he was playing in the comfort zone. If you’re in the comfort zone, nowadays with all the cameras, you’re going to get found out.
“That’s why Gareth Southgate had no option but to drop him.”
In other news, Liverpool fear their senior man is quitting to join Man United.
