Agbonlahor: Moutinho is to blame for Wolves ‘disaster’ and he must be binned

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho are to blame for Wolves’ “disaster” campaign.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa captain called on Nuno Espirito Santo to continue his experiment with youth after their 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Wolves lined up with five players under the age of 21 including three teenagers at Molineux as Morgan Gibbs-White’s first Premier League goal secured a late win.

Moutinho retained his place in midfield as he made his 30th Premier League appearance of the campaign.

Last season the 34-year-old featured in a staggering 57 domestic games as Nuno hailed his competitive edge.

Asked whether it was time was right for Wolves to now look at younger players, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “They need to.

“I look at [Ruben] Neves and I look at Moutinho and they’ve been quite poor this season. They’re not at the standards they’ve been at before.

“They need a whole change Wolves. Wolves are a team that this season you would have said they were trying to get into the top-four after the season that they had before and the players they’ve got.

“They can’t just blame it on having no Jimenez. Other players haven’t stepped up.

“They definitely need to give Gibbs-White a chance. He’s from the area, he’s hungry. They’re the players to have in the team.

“Wolves need a lot of changes, to be honest. This season has been a bit of a disaster.

“Neves and Moutinho aren’t going to win the ball back quick enough. They’ve not got the legs in there.

“Neves has got it on the ball but he needs someone in next to him.

“There are definitely some changes that Wolves need to make.”
