Agbonlahor shares insight on Idrissa Gueye after Everton update via BBC – ‘He was with me at Villa’

Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed Idrissa Gueye to be a “very good signing” for Everton if he completes a move this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa forward recalled his time playing with the 32-year-old during his time at Villa Park.

Gueye signed for Everton in 2016, after a year with Villa, for a fee of around £7.5million.

According to the BBC (3 August), the Toffees are in advanced talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to re-sign the midfielder.

The Senegal international left Everton for PSG in 2019.

He has entered the final year of his contract with the Ligue 1 champions.

The Merseyside club have already lost Fabian Delph, Donny van de Beek and Richarlison in the summer transfer window.

When asked if he thought Gueye would be a welcome addition to Frank Lampard’s side, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “Yes, I do.

I really liked him as a player. He was at Villa with me and let me tell you he is a very, very good player.

PSG are maybe wanting to go in a different direction now.

He’s very good on the ball, can get around the pitch can get the ball back. He’d be a very good signing for Everton.
