Agbonlahor makes bold Tanganga prediction after major Tottenham transfer development

Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Japhet Tanganga can be “outstanding” for Tottenham but he needs to be more consistent.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Spurs made a U-turn on the academy graduate.

Football Insider broke the news on 16 August they no longer planning on loaning out Tanganga after his impressive opening day display.

The Englishman put in a man of the match display as Tottenham beat Manchester City and backed it up with a solid display against Wolves after starting today.

“We said this last season when Jose Mourinho played him and he did really well,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It was a similar game as well. I remember him having an outstanding game then his form dipped, they were ups and downs.

“Sometimes he wasn’t as good as the ball, in some games he wasn’t as good defensively, he’d lose focus.

“It’s OK doing against Man City on the first day of the season, against the champions in front of a big home crowd. You’ve got to go and do it away from home on the cold nights where it’s a battle.

“I’m sure Nuno Espirito Santo won’t be getting carried away, he’ll still want competition in that place with the likes of Doherty and Aurier.

“He’s just got to be more consistent in every game he plays in, Tanganga.”

Tanganga has now played 26 times across all competitions for Spurs’ first-team.

He is under contract with the north London club until the summer of 2025.
