Agbonlahor tells Tottenham to sign ‘£60m’ Marc Guehi in triple centre-back raid

Gabby Agbonlahor has insisted Tottenham should move for three new centre-backs this summer – including Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Ben Davies and Clement Lenglet are “not good enough” going forward.

Sources told this site on 27 March that Tottenham lead the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Guehi – who is valued at between £50-60million by the Eagles.

Arsenal have also recently (3 May) been linked with the England international as the summer window approaches.

Guehi, who cost Crystal Palace a reported fee of up to £20million, has impressed in 36 appearances across all competitions this season.

On-loan Tottenham defender Clement Lenglet is expected to return to parent club Barcelona in the off-season, while Eric Dier and Cristian Romero have drawn criticism in a difficult 2022-23 campaign.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think anyone would come in and transform that defence.

“Eric Dier, I don’t understand why there are talks over a new contract for him.

“Romero is the sort of player who would be on his last chance with me if I was manager. He just wants to kick everyone. He knows he’s going to get sent off, but still does it.

“I think Spurs need three centre-backs.

“Guehi can be one of them, but I’d go out and get more. Lenglet and Ben Davies are not good enough either.

“You’ve got to have multiple top centre-backs if you want to go and win trophies. Look at Arsenal after they lost Saliba – it’s cost them the title.”

In other news, Tottenham could block West Ham’s midfielder bid.
