Agent of Arsenal 28-year-old urging player to remain at the Emirates this summer – report
By Aramide Oladipo
Alexis Sanchez’s agent is desperate for the forward to remain at Arsenal for the upcoming campaign, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that Fernando Felicevich is attempting to convince the 28-year-old to run down his current contract at the Emirates Stadium as he believes the Chilean will receive more lucrative contract offers next summer as a free agent.
The newspaper claims his representative is confident that a number of top European sides would be interested in signing the striker because the situation would out of Arsenal’s hands.
Sanches is already attracting interest as the Sun recently reported that Paris-Saint Germain have held talks with the Chilean over a potential summer move with Premier League rivals Manchester City also keen on him.
The report claims that Sanchez is adamant that he wants to leave the North London club this summer in order to boost his chances of winning major trophies next season, with the Champions League title high on his list.
It is said that the Chilean is eager to win more silverware as he feels that there is not much time left to do so in his footballing career.
Sanchez was outstanding for the Gunners last season, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer for a second time in three seasons with 30 strikes to his name.
The striker’s contract at the Emirates Stadium runs out next summer.
Football Insider verdict
The opinions of both men are completely understandable. Sanchez is aware that he might only have a few years left at the top level and it is not difficult to understand why he wants to secure a move to a Champions League team to try and lift the biggest competition in club football. Felicevich’s stance also makes sense as he realises that not many clubs would want to pay big money in order to land a player who is out of contract at the end of next season. The news will no doubt be worrying to Arsenal fans because if his closest ally cannot convince him to stay in North London next season, it will be extremely tough for the hierarchy at the club to keep Sanchez there this summer.
