Alan Shearer and Joelinton respond as Newcastle record transfer agreed

Newcastle players both past and present shared their reaction after the club officially confirmed another new signing.

Eddie Howe’s side have endured a turbulent summer, with the future of Alexander Isak casting a shadow over their preparations.

Isak has pushed to leave Newcastle amid strong interest from Liverpool, even refusing to train in a bid to force through a move. A damning statement followed, with the Swede claiming “promises were broken” after the Magpies rejected Liverpool’s opening offer.

Newcastle turned their focus to strengthening the forward line but several of their leading targets slipped away: Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko opted to join Manchester United, while Hugo Ekitike completed a switch to Liverpool.

In the closing days of the window, though, a new name emerged, and the club have now finally secured a much-needed addition to the striker position.

Newcastle complete club-record deal for Nick Woltemade

Newcastle have officially confirmed the signing of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart in what is a club-record deal for the Magpies.

The club shared the announcement on Instagram, posting: “Welcome to Newcastle, Nick! We can announce the signing of Nick Woltemade in a club-record deal from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart.”

The news earned a wave of reaction across social media. Newcastle legend Alan Shearer was among those to like the post, alongside current players Joelinton, Lewis Hall and Jacob Murphy.

The 23-year-old arrives with a strong reputation following his breakout season in Germany, where he scored 17 goals and provided three assists across all competitions. Newcastle have splashed out £69million to secure his services, making him their most expensive signing to date.

Newcastle fans reacted with excitement over Woltemade as the club have finally added to their frontline. Howe has been forced to use Anthony Gordon as a makeshift centre-forward since the start of the season, but Woltemade’s arrival finally gives the squad a natural striker option.

Newcastle face Alexander Isak decision after Nick Woltemade signing

While Newcastle have strengthened in attack, the signing of Woltemade could accelerate Isak’s exit in the coming days.

Reports suggest Newcastle may need to sanction Isak’s sale to Liverpool in order to fund further business, particularly with the club keen to bring in another striker to replace Callum Wilson before the window closes.

Isak has already been absent from Howe’s squad in recent weeks, and with Woltemade’s arrival now confirmed, Liverpool are expected to return with an improved bid for the Sweden international.
