Alexander Isak footage emerges ahead of vital Newcastle v Everton clash

Alexander Isak footage has emerged ahead of Newcastle’s massive meeting with Everton at St. James’ Park.

The Swedish striker has been a titan for England target Eddie Howe‘s side this season, leading the club’s goal-scoring charts with an impressive 23 strikes.

As a consequence of his success, interest has gone through the roof for the 25-year-old, with Liverpool leading the chase to sign Isak.

The Magpies have no desire to sell their star man, but it seems likely that his future will be tied to whichever European competition the club are playing in next season.

A win against Everton will guarantee Champions League football and give Newcastle a great chance of keeping Isak this summer, but a loss or draw could see them overtaken by Aston Villa or Nottingham Forest.

Newcastle receive major boost as Alexander Isak spotted at St. James’ Park

Isak missed Newcastle’s previous game, a 1-0 loss to Arsenal after suffering a groin injury.

Those fitness issues made him a doubt for the game against Everton, causing major concern for the Magpies, given their recent struggles against the Toffees.

Newcastle have not won in their previous three meetings against David Moyes‘ side, with their last win coming in April 2023.

But Howe’s side has received a major boost it seems, as Isak was spotted arriving with the squad at St. James’ Park, seemingly ready to feature.

Alexander Isak return confirms Callum Wilson departure

Football Insider Verdict

Callum Wilson is out of contract this summer and has been linked with a move to Leeds.

The former Bournemouth striker has been a key part of Newcastle’s renaissance in recent years, but has failed to score in the Premier League this season.

Wilson led the line against Arsenal, but after an utterly unimpactful hour on the pitch, the England international was replaced by William Osula.

Howe’s decision to rush Isak back from injury shows he lacks faith in the former Coventry striker, and likely signifies that he has no plans to extend the forward’s deal this summer.

Osula and Wilson have scored once between them in the Premier League this season, making a back-up striker for their star man a top priority.
