Alexander Isak to win Player of the Year at Liverpool ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal stars – Le Tissier
Alexander Isak will win Player of the Year if he joins Liverpool and wins the Premier League with Arne Slot’s side.
That is the view of former England and Southampton star Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that the Swedish striker will score a “shedload of goals” for the Reds if he joins them this summer.
Isak is currently on strike at Newcastle and was not involved in their first game of the season, a 0-0 draw against 10-man Aston Villa at Villa Park.
The 25-year-old scored 23 goals and assisted six more, firing the Magpies to a fifth-placed finish last term, securing their return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.
However, the relationship between Isak and Newcastle has soured after Amanda Staveley’s promise of a new contract was not fulfilled by her replacement, Paul Mitchell.
The forward still has three years remaining on his current deal, but is desperate to join Liverpool this summer.
The Reds had a bid of £110million rejected [BBC Sport], with Newcastle holding firm on their asking price of £150m for Isak.

Isak leads Cole Palmer, Viktor Gyokeres in Player of the Year race
This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.
Speaking to Football Insider exclusively, Le Tissier predicted that if Isak joins Liverpool this summer, the Swedish striker will win Player of the Year.
The Premier League legend believes the Sweden international will be duking it out for the prestigious award alongside Chelsea star Cole Palmer and Arsenal’s new man Viktor Gyokeres.
Le Tissier said: “It’s always a really difficult one to try and predict the Player of the Season.
“You look for the guys that score loads of goals first and foremost because, obviously, quite a lot of the time they’re the ones that grab all the headlines.

“It’s very rare you get a Virgil van Dijk to come in and win.
“The three that I’ve gone for are, and you won’t be surprised, goal-scorers.
“I went for Isak if he goes to Liverpool, because I think he will score a shedload of goals for them. And if they win the league, that’ll also be another tick in the box.
“If Isak goes to Liverpool and they win the league, I’m thinking Isak will probably be Player of the Year.
“I also love Cole Palmer, again, not just for the assists, but because the boy can score goals as well.
“I love the way he plays football, enjoy watching him play, sees passes that a lot of players don’t see. So he’d be up there for me.
“And the other one I went with was Gyokeres, because I think in that Arsenal team, just like Isak, I think they create so many chances that if he has a reasonable season, he should convert quite a lot of them, and I think he could be up there.”
Marc Guehi move to Liverpool hits stumbling block
Whilst the pursuit of Isak has captured attention, Liverpool are also in need of more reinforcements at the back this summer.
Slot has Van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Giovanni Leoni to call upon, but with Konate’s contract expiring next year, the Reds are likely to pursue another centre-back.

Marc Guehi has been touted as an option for Liverpool, but Mick Brown told Football Insider the deal could be blocked by Crystal Palace.
If the Eagles sell Eberechi Eze to Tottenham, they are unlikely to let their captain go as well, forcing Slot’s side to wait till next summer to sign the England international.
