Real Madrid could target Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister as part of their summer rebuild.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, as Real Madrid are “very unhappy” with how their season has gone.

The Spanish giants sacked Xabi Alonso as manager in January, and currently sit four points off rivals Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table.

Liverpool face losing key players in the summer, with Dominik Szoboszlai having also been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Alexis Mac Allister ‘Spanish-bound’ in the summer

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Real Madrid will be “big and bold” in the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said Mac Allister is more likely to join Real Madrid than Szoboszlai.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Real Madrid, I mean, they lost last night to Getafe, a big upset in La Liga, they are in a very unhappy mood right now. So we’ve got to see what they’re going to make of it.

“They’re going to come out big and bold, I think, Real Madrid. And I do expect to see some movement, you know, potentially a new manager as well.

“There’s going to be some activity because they hate being in this sort of situation of coming second. So, yes, I think McAllister is the one that I would say, out of the two, would be the one target that I think could be Spanish-bound.”

Liverpool confirm Alisson stance

Sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool have no plans to sell Alisson in the summer after Juventus were linked with a move for the goalkeeper.

Juventus would only be able to afford the 33-year-old if they qualify for the Champions League this season, with the Italian club currently sixth in Serie A.

Alisson remains the undisputed number one at Anfield, and has been at the club since joining from Roma in 2018.
