Report: Rangers defender makes emphatic January decision on Ibrox future
Rangers defender Bruno Alves will not be leaving the Scottish Premier League this transfer window, according to a report.
STV understands that the centre-back is happy with the Gers and intends to remain at Ibrox.
There has been a huge amount of speculation regarding the Portuguese star, who was signed by Pedro Caixinha, and it was thought that the 36-year-old former Porto enforcer would be off to Qatar in January.
However, it would now appear from this latest report that the defender wants to get his head down in the SPL and direct his focus on preparing himself for his country’s appearance in the World Cup finals this summer in Russia.
Football Insider verdict:
A fully-committed Alves can only be good news for Rangers who will need all their players fully focused if they are going to mount any kind of assault on the Scottish championship. Alves has a wealth of experience that he has amassed over the years he has spent in the game so Graeme Murty will hope that he has the powerful defender on board to help steer the younger members of the squad to success in May. The 36-year-old was missing from the Gers trip to Florida due to an ankle injury and if he can recover quickly, he could be pushing for a place in the starting XI.
