‘Andoni Iraola to snub Daniel Levy and Tottenham after major Bournemouth news’
Andoni Iraola has long been linked as a potential replacement for Ange Postecoglou but while Daniel Levy is in charge it looks unlikely the Bournemouth boss will accept a Tottenham switch.
Mick Brown told Football Insider that Iraola is the first-choice for the Spurs owner if the trigger is finally pulled on Postecoglou’s time in North London, which supporters have been begging for.
The Lilywhites have fallen to 14th in the Premier League table, winning just 10 of their 29 league matches all season as well as being booted out of the FA Cup and EFL Cup.
It has been such a torrid season that Tottenham have been backed to sack Postecoglou even if the Europa League title is brought back to North London on 21 May.
While the bookmakers are prepared to offer Iraola as one of the favourites to take over should that happen, it could now be much harder than anticipated to lure the Spaniard over to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Andoni Iraola continues incredible journey at Bournemouth
Iraola’s journey to stardom has been nothing short of incredible, with the Cherries fighting for a European finish in the Premier League this season, currently sitting 10th in the table.
After just two seasons at the club, the 42-year-old has an opportunity to bring Champions League football, or even the Europa League would be an achievement, to the Vitality Stadium.
However, those potential achievements have raised eyebrows across Europe, with Real Madrid also named in the conversation for Iraola’s signature.
Bournemouth are “doing everything” to tie the manager down to a new deal, but with Spurs potentially looking for Postecoglou’s successor, they may not have to look very far, but an important figure could be standing in the way.
Manager | Games | Won | Drawn | Lost | Win % |
Andoni Iraola | 80 | 35 | 17 | 28 | 43.8 |
Daniel Levy to scare away the perfect Ange Postecoglou replacement for Tottenham
Speaking on The Athletic’s podcast [25 March], Tim Bezbatchenko, Black Knight Football director, spoke about Bill Foley‘s ambition matching Iraola’s, suggesting the Cherries are committed to backing their manager in the transfer market.
The signings of Evanilson and Dean Huijsen, who is attracting attention from Liverpool, are testament to that ideology, which has seen massive benefits at the Vitality Stadium in recent seasons.
Sadly, if the Spaniard were to make the switch to North London, the same cannot be said for Levy, who has remained a cause for frustration amongst the fans due to a perceived ongoing lack of investment on the pitch.
Despite the £55million signing of Dominic Solanke in the summer [BBC Sport], a year after talisman Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich for £86.4m [BBC Sport], Spurs were desperate for reinforcements during the winter window amid a flood of devastating injuries.
Instead of reaching into his pockets to aid the club’s on-pitch performances, Levy left Postecoglou out to dry, with the Australian likely to be the one facing the consequences once the season comes to an end.
Given how positive the atmosphere is on the coast, it is not out of this world to suggest that Levy’s ownership style is the one thing standing in the way of Iraola making the switch.
Bournemouth look to be well aware of the talent they have got in the dugout and are ready to make sure he can keep driving them forward, while Spurs’ track record under star names such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, not to mention during the golden era of Mauricio Pochettino, suggest a very different outlook.
