Andre Green posts message ahead of Aston Villa clash with Barnsley

Andre Green has stated on Twitter that he is looking forward to Aston Villa taking on Barnsley on Tuesday night in a Championship clash.

Steve Bruce’s side welcome the Yorkshire club to the Midlands, looking to end their dismal run in 2017.

Villa have lost six games since the turn of the year in all competitions, including losing three on the bounce in the Championship.

They played Mick McCathy’s Ipswich Town at the weekend and suffered their first defeat on home soil against the Tractor boys this term.

Now, Bruce’s men will be looking to bounce back from that defeat and end their barren run with a much-needed three points.

Academy product Green sent this message to supporters ahead of the game as posted on his personal Twitter account.

“Can’t wait for the game tonight,” said Green. “Your support is huge.”

Winger Green has played ten Championship games for Bruce’s side this term, but he is yet to get off the mark with a goal or an assist.

He has not started a game since the 3-0 defeat against Brentford at the end of January as Bruce has opted to use him as a late substitute during the last two games.

Green will be hoping for a starting spot against Paul Heckinbottom’s side, but he will need to push the likes of Birkir Bjarnason or possibly one of the forward players out of the starting line-up.

In other Aston Villa news, fans have urged Steve Bruce to start this 29-year-old against Barnsley.
