Anthony Elanga sends ‘next chapter’ message as Newcastle move looms

Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga could be joining Newcastle this summer, and he has sent an emotional farewell after a confirmed exit.

Elanga has been at the club since his move from Man United in 2023, making 74 appearances so far in his two years at the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santos’ side secured European football by finishing seventh last season, and the 23-year-old featured in every single game, scoring six goals and picking up 11 assists.

Forest had a chance of clinching a Champions League spot on the final day, but were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea, which means they will be in the Conference League for the 2025/26 campaign.

Elanga sends goodbye message

Elanga has been linked with a move to Newcastle in recent weeks, with Eddie Howe’s side desperate to bring in some extra attacking talent.

However, the forward was bidding farewell to one of his current teammates, after it was confirmed that they would be leaving the club.

Defender Harry Toffolo, who has been on Trentside since his move from Huddersfield three years ago, will leave Forest when his contract expires at the end of June.

Elanga reposted the club’s official announcement on his Instagram story, with the caption: “What a player! And an even better person. Good luck on your next chapter brother.”

Forest set to land triple deal

Football Insider Verdict

Espirito Santos’ side will be competing in Europe next season, so they will need an enhanced squad size to cope with the extra competition.

It seems as if the Portuguse manager has already added some depth to his ranks, with Forest set to secure a triple signing from Brazilian club Botafogo.

Igor Jesus, Cuiabano and Jair Cunha are all expected to complete a move to the City Ground for a combined fee of almost £30million.

Botafogo are owned by John Textor, who is also in control of Lyon through Eagle Football Holdings.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider there appears to be an arrangement between Forest and Textor following the latest deals.
