Anthony Gordon sends emotional message after confirmed Newcastle exit
Anthony Gordon has penned an emotional message on social media after Newcastle United confirmed the exit of a well-liked first-team player.
Newcastle’s stellar 2024/25 domestic campaign means they are back in the Champions League for next season, and speedy winger Gordon once again played a key part in their success.
The Magpies’ main men are attracting interest this summer, with Liverpool and Arsenal both interested in a move for Alexander Isak, while former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider back in April that Gordon is the most likely star player to leave Newcastle this summer amid interest from the Reds and the Gunners.
Football Insider recently revealed that Liverpool have been told it would take an offer of £75-80million to sign Gordon, with Newcastle unwilling to sell him this summer due to their lack of PSR concerns.
They have moved to let an important first-team player leave ahead of next season, however, with Gordon clearly emotional about the decision.

Callum Wilson has left Newcastle after five years at the club
Former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in May that Wilson was set to leave Newcastle amid interest from Leeds United, and the club have now confirmed his exit following the expiry of his contract with an Instagram post, stating: “Callum Wilson has confirmed he will depart Newcastle United after five seasons at the club.
“From scoring on his debut against West Ham in 2020 to wearing the iconic number 9 shirt, Callum has played a huge part in our success in recent years and we thank him for all his contributions. Good luck for the future, CW9!”
Wilson has penned his own heartfelt message on Instagram, saying: “It’s time to say goodbye after an unbelievable few years in the Toon. Thank you for everything…All good things come to an end but there’s no doubt Newcastle United will always have a place in mine and my families hearts.”
The 33-year-old was clearly a close friend of exit-linked Magpies teammate Gordon, as he also took to the social media site to issue an emotional message to Wilson via his story, saying: “Honestly one of the best and most inspiring people I’ve met. Elite mentality and teammate, I’m gunna miss you brother.
“Good luck with whatever comes next,” with a red heart emoji alongside three pictures of the pair together.

Wilson should find a new club soon despite Leeds snub
Football Insider verdict
Wilson has been a solid Premier League player and decent scorer over the years at both Newcastle and Bournemouth before that, but his career has been blighted by constant injuries that have seemingly led to him and the Magpies agreeing to part ways.
The 33-year-old featured in just 18 league games last term, and failed to find the back of the net in any of those appearances, and Football Insider recently revealed that Leeds are concerned with Wilson’s age and fitness issues as they weigh up a move to sign him this summer.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
130 | 49 | 11 |
Despite his issues, he would still surely be a solid signing for many top-flight sides that need a back-up striker, and Everton are believed to be interested in signing Wilson ahead of next season after Dominic Calvert-Lewin departed the Merseyside club.
That sort of move would definitely suit him as he nears the latter stages of his career, and given that the Toffees are targeting his services, it should not take long for Wilson to find a Premier League team that is willing to offer him a suitable contract.
