Antoine Semenyo: Frontrunner named in Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City race

Liverpool are one of the clubs at the front of the queue to sign Antoine Semenyo in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The Bournemouth star has become one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League in recent seasons, and already has nine goal involvements to his name from just 12 appearances so far in 2025-26.

Football Insider recently revealed that Semenyo is more likely to leave Bournemouth next summer, but sources are now indicating that it cannot be ruled out that his £65million release clause may be triggered in January.

The Ghana international is attracting plenty of interest once again, but a mid-season deal is likely to be unachievable for the majority of clubs at the top end of the league.

Liverpool and Man City contemplate Antoine Semenyo release clause

Tottenham are also keen on Semenyo, whose release clause is available to be activated during the opening two weeks of the January window.

That clause then lowers ahead of the summer, making an end of season deal extremely likely, given the decrease in outlay that would be required for the interested parties.

However, the race to sign Semenyo may not get that far if Liverpool or Manchester City get their way.

Sources have informed Football Insider that the pair are the firm frontrunners to sign the winger in January, as they are understood to be the two main parties that are keen to trigger that release clause.

Manchester United’s long-term interest is also still believed to be present, but both of their biggest rivals are currently best-placed to secure the deal mid-season.

Man City want Semenyo to ‘change the profile’ of their wingers

Manchester City’s interest in Semenyo stems from the fact that they are understood to be keen to “change the profile” of their wingers across the next few transfer windows.

The likes of Savinho and Jeremy Doku are very much energetic, ball-carrying wingers, while Semenyo is a player who is far more versatile in his attacking play.

The 25-year-old possesses the vision to step inside from the flank and unlock defences, while also providing a major goal threat for his team.

Andoni Iraola has leaned heavily on his talent in the last few months, and that has been highlighted by the dip in results that the Cherries have endured during his recent injury lay-off.

However, Semenyo is now back fit and firing just in time for the January window to open up.
