Arsenal-linked Jorrel Hato sends message to Jurrien Timber after Real Madrid win

Jurrien Timber got plenty of reactions after his message in the wake of Arsenal’s stunning Champions League victory.

The Gunners’ welcomed Real Madrid to the Emirates in what was only the third meeting between the sides, with Arsenal winning and drawing the previous two without conceding a goal.

This theme of dominance continued on Tuesday night (8 April), with Declan Rice showcasing his underrated technique with two sensational free-kick goals 12 minutes apart, before Mikel Merino’s side footed finish from the edge of the area sent the fans into dream land.

Winning the Champions League looks to be Arsenal‘s last chance of winning silverware this term, however Mikel Arteta’s team have put themselves in an excellent position ahead of their trip to the Santiago Bernabéu next week.

Arsenal teammates show support for Timber after impressive display

In a post via Instagram on Wednesday (9 April), 23-year-old Timber posted a series of pictures from Arsenal’s clash with the Spanish giants, including one of the defender getting touch tight to opposite number on the night Vinicius Junior, with a caption of: “Big Champions League night! See you next week.” alongside a praying emoji.

Timber received plenty of responses from his teammates following impressive win.

In response to the post, which was liked by the returning Bukayo Saka, fellow defender William Saliba sent a comment of a rock emoji to describe Timber’s performance.

International teammate, Jorrel Hato, who has been tracked by Arsenal, also responded with a comment saying: “Top top”.

Timber having an excellent season following ACL injury

Football Insider Verdict

The young full-back is thriving in north London after enduring a difficult debut season when he suffered an ACL injury on his first Arsenal start.

The incident was rotten luck for Timber and saw him sidelined for until the final game of the season against Everton, in which Arsenal narrowly missed out on the title to Manchester City.

With these type of injuries it’s often the mental barrier of making a return to action which can see players hit with setbacks.

It’s testament to the 23-year-old’s mentality that he has been perhaps Arsenal’s most reliable defender this campaign, especially with Ben White’s injury woes knocking him down the pecking order and Takehiro Tomiyasu only featuring in an eight minute cameo against Southampton.

Timber overall stats 24/25
Games – 43
Goals – 2
Assists – 3
Timber has played 43 times after his return from an ACL injury.

Tasked with marking the dangerous Vinicius Junior, Timber showcased his immense concentration and one on one defending ability in order to shut the Brazilian out of the game for large spells.

Arteta will be delighted to see him adapt so seamlessly to the right-back position and will require Timber to once again display his consistency for Arsenal’s trip to the Spanish capital in six days time.
