Arsenal must buy three new players in the January window – Premier League legend
By London correspondent Tony Hughes
Arsenal should buy three news players in the January window to give their title challenge a boost.
That is the view of Alan Shearer, the Match of the Day pundit and the leading scorer in Premier League history.
As revealed by Football Insider, Arsenal have already sealed a deal for Basle midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is waiting for a work permit before completing a £5.2million transfer to Emirates Stadium.
But Shearer is convinced that Arsene Wenger should make two further additions to strengthen a squad that has been ravaged by injuries to key players in midfield and attacking positions, including Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.
“Arsenal are in a strong position in the Premier League and also through to the last 16 of the Champions League again,” Shearer told the BBC website. “But they always seem to get injuries – already this season is no exception – so they need to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.

“Another centre-forward, a defensive midfielder and a centre-half should all be on Arsene Wenger’s list but the difficult thing for Wenger is to find a way of doing that in the middle of the season to improve his team.”
Arsenal begin 2016 at the Premier League summit, even though they are only ahead of second-placed Leicester on goal difference.
