Arsenal news: Bukayo Saka tipped to sign new contract after behind-the-scenes reveal – pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Bukayo Saka to sign a new contract at Arsenal.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Arsenal can match Saka’s Champions League ambitions as he has got time on his side.

The Daily Mail reported last Tuesday (8 February) securing the 20-year-old to a new deal is one of the club’s top priorities ahead of the summer.

He is currently under contract at his boyhood club until the summer of 2024.

However, the club allegedly fear he will be reluctant to commit to fresh terms if the Gunners fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently four points behind the top-four in sixth, although they have games in hand over all of the club’s above them.

Asked whether Saka will sign a new contract with Arsenal and if they can match his ambition, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think they can.

“The difference with Saka is, he’s been there since he was a kid and he’s still young.

“It’s not like he’s 25 or 26, he’s still very young and has a lot of time to get into the Champions League with Arsenal.

“Arsenal shouldn’t really worry about Saka. He’s at the right club, he broke into the England squad playing for Arsenal so, from what I know, I don’t see him wanting to leave.”

Saka is yet to feature in Europe’s premium club competition but he does have vast Europa League experience.

The England international has scored four times and provided nine assists in 17 Europa League appearances.
