Arsenal player ratings v Crystal Palace: Trio 3/10 and not good enough
By Dominic Toner
Football Insider rates the Arsenal players after their 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Emiliano Martinez 5 – He pulled off a couple of good saves and wasn’t supported by his defence atoll. Can’t really be blamed for either goals, with Yohan Cabaye’s strike fantastic. However, gifted Palace a penalty kick
Hector Bellerin 5 – Caught out positionally on a couple of occasions, but used his pace well to recover. Showed some positivity going forward and one of the better performers.
Shkodran Mustafi 3 – The German centre-back struggled against the pace of the Palace attackers and his positioning was poor at times.
Gabriel 3 – Not at the same level of the injured Laurent Koscielny and bullied by Christian Benteke.
Nacho Monreal 5 – Tried to support the attack when he could, but defensively really struggled against the lively Wilfried Zaha.
Granit Xhaka 4 – Was very inconsistent in possession and couldn’t get a control of the game.
Mohamed Elneny 4 – Saw a curling effort saved brilliant by goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey in the first-half. However, struggled to dominate the centre of the park and was substitute off by Arsene Wenger.
Theo Walcott 4 – The winger has been in strong form this season, but was quiet in this game.
Mesut Ozil 3 – Didn’t show the creative side to his game and was horrendously poor in the possession, with numerous balls played off the pitch.
Alexis Sanchez 5 – Looked the most likely for the Gunners and found some good space on the pitch. However, looked depleted every time Palace scored.
Danny Welbeck 4 – Couldn’t get the service to impact the game and was very quiet.
Aaron Ramsey (for Elneny 59mins) 5
Danny Welbeck (for Olivier Giroud 60mins) 5
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (for Walcott 69mins) 5
