Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka respond to Jurrien Timber message

Jurrien Timber’s latest social post has sparked a reaction from his Arsenal team mates Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners are about to get pre-season underway ahead of the new Premier League campaign which begins next month with a trip to Manchester United on the opening weekend.

The last three seasons have seen the Gunners miss out on the title by the finest margins and manager Mikel Arteta is looking to address that this summer.

Arteta looks close to completing the signing of Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres and Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard having already captured Martin Zubimenida and Kepa.

Timber and Saka link-up outside of Arsenal

After suffering an ACL injury in his first season at the club, Timber made his mark in Arsenal’s defensive ranks last campaign as a versatile option at full-back or centre-back.

Before returning to pre-season, the Dutchman has enjoyed a day out with team mate Saka at Wimbledon.

The pair were pictured with Tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz on Timber’s Instagram page, which Rice and Saka liked.

Relaxed Gunners facing trophy drought

Football Insider Verdict

Arsenal stars are looking relaxed ahead of a campaign which will be their most pressurised yet.

The Gunners have only lacked a striker in their pursuit of trophies, but now Arteta has his man in Gyokeres the Spaniard needs to deliver the club a major trophy.

Since joining the club in December 2019, Arteta has only delivered an FA Cup to Arsenal’s trophy cabinet.

Arteta is looking for forward options to bolster his attack with the likes of Noni Madueke, Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze all linked with a move to the Emirates.

Zubimendi’s arrival could free up Rice to have a more attacking impact next season and the likes of Martin Odegaard and Saka will continue to be key creators going forward.

Having tied Gabriel down to a new contract, his partnership with Saliba will continue to provide the Gunners with the foundation to flourish.

Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White can all play across the back four, but following the departures of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney more full-back options may be needed.

Oleksandr Zinchenko could also leave this summer so Arteta’s summer transfer business looks far from wrapped up.
